After taking office, Marty has reduced his budget every year -- creating an overall savings to the taxpayers of more than $500,000.
Marty has reduced the number of cars in the Assessor's Office by almost half while eliminating the employee take-home car policy.
Extended office hours and increased the professional certifications in the office to improve customer service and ensure the Assessor's Office is ready to meet the evolving needs of all property owners and taxpayers.
These and other improvements to the office led his peers to name Marty as the 2018 East Tennessee Assessor the Year -- a first for a newly elected Assessor of Property.
Marty also received the 2019 Leadership Award from his peers in recognition of his efforts for actively seeking to promote "Professionalism, Service & Leadership" in the Assessment process.
Marty's leadership and efforts to improve the Assessor's Office has earned one of the state's first "Three Star" certification from the Tennessee Association of Assessing Officers.
