Proven Conservative. Trusted Servant. Effective Leader.

Marty Haynes was elected Assessor of Property for Hamilton County in August of 2016 -- becoming the 15th Property Assessor in Hamilton County’s history.

Marty is a lifelong resident of Hixson and has a long history of being active in his community, including serving in leadership positions with many civic and community organizations in his home community. The organizations include the Hixson Kiwanis Club, Friends of Hixson, Hixson High School Alumni Association, North River Civic Center and the Pachyderm Club. In addition, Marty has worked as a high school football official for many years.

Marty’s outstanding service in these organizations led to many awards and recognition. He was inducted into the Hixson High School Hall of Fame in 2009.  He was also selected as an Outstanding Young Man of America in 1984 and received the Jack Sharp award from the Hamilton County Republican Party in 2012.  These and other efforts led the Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department to recognize him as their Citizen of the Year in 2014.

His desire to serve and give back to the community he loves also led Marty to running for public office in 2012 where he was elected to the Hamilton County Commission representing the Hixson community -- both within the city of Chattanooga and the unincorporated rural area, including Middle Valley, Dallas Bay and the town of Lakesite.

After working in the private sector for more than 30 years, Marty decided to run for Assessor of Property, which is an administrative role in county government. His campaign followed in the footsteps of the previous two Assessor (Bill Bennett and Claude Ramsey) with a f
ocus on his vision to apply the strong business principles he learned during a successful business career to the Assessor's Office to ensure its services are accountable, transparent, efficient and responsive to the changing needs of owners and taxpayers in Hamilton County.

Prior to being elected as the Assessor of Property, Marty was a technical sales agent for Porter Warner Industries, the largest foundry supply house in North America. During his 16 years with Porter Warner Industries, Marty managed a business budget of more than $4 million and worked with 500-plus clients throughout the region to meet their manufacturing equipment needs. Prior to Porter Warner, Marty worked as a regional sales manager for Electro Minerals.

Marty is the son of Norma and the late Dub Haynes. His youngest son, Miller, resides in Hixson. His oldest son, David and daughter-in-law Nicki, are parents to his three Grandchildren - Granddaughters Marjorie & Mallory and Grandson Manning.

Marty likes to tell folks, “I am a richly blessed man. My family and my friends have helped me have the opportunity to serve the citizens of Hamilton County, and I am truly grateful."
